Set at the top of a hillside on the level, the campsite overlooks the Kingsbridge Ria and offers beautiful views across the surrounding landscape. It’s just a short walk into Kingsbridge town centre, so you can leave your car on site and easily access shops, cafés, pubs, and everything you might need on foot.
Ideally located on the edge of town, Woodhouse Farm gives you that eco camping ‘back to the outdoors’ feeling — without being off-grid. Peace and space, with all the essentials close by.
If you’re keen to explore, you can hop on the ferry to Salcombe for a beach day, or take the coastal road to Dartmouth and enjoy the stunning views along the way.

What is the best way to find the campsite using a sat nav?
How do I find the campsite (in a car) from Kingsbridge town centre?
If coming from the Kingsbridge town centre, you will see a petrol station (ASDA) on the left hand side (TQ7 1EB). Take the first left (behind the petrol station, before the roundabout) onto Ropewalk. Follow the road, there will be a car park on your left & houses on your right. You should then see a small bridge, go over the bridge & up the hill (pictures below for reference). The campsite is at the top on the left.
What time should we arrive & depart?
We’re pretty laid back. You’re welcome to arrive any time between 1:00pm and 7:00pm. If you’re going to be later due to traffic or other delays, no problem — just drop us a text to let us know.
Check-out is 12:00pm, but if we’re not too busy, we’re happy to be flexible — just ask on the day.
What disposal facilities are provided?
We provide a Zero to Landfill (mixed) disposal bin near the campsite entrance. This bin accepts all general waste and recyclables, which are then sorted and processed off-site to minimise landfill impact. Please remove all rubbish from your pitch and help us keep the site clean by following the ‘Leave No Trace’ motto.
Are chemical waste disposal facilities available?
No, we do not provide chemical waste disposal facilities on site. Please plan accordingly and dispose of these responsibly elsewhere.
Does my dog need to be on a lead or tethered?
We kindly ask that dogs are kept on a lead or tethered while on the campsite to protect local wildlife and nearby farm animals. While there are no farm animals in the camping field itself, livestock graze nearby, so it’s important to keep your dog under control. Also, not all guests are comfortable around dogs, so this helps ensure a pleasant stay for everyone. Thank you for helping us care for the farm environment.
What should I do if my neighbours are disturbing me or my group?
We want everyone to enjoy their stay, and while a little noise is to be expected as people enjoy themselves, we don’t want anyone’s experience to be disturbed. Usually, a friendly word with your neighbour sorts things out — people here are generally very considerate! If that doesn’t do the trick, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to step in.
What sizes are the pitches?
Pitches are approximately 10m x 10m square (on grass, farm field). Though, we don’t have fixed pitches, this is just a guideline to keep spacing sensible and comfortable.
Are there lights at the campsite?
The campsite is in a natural field setting without lighting. We recommend bringing a good torch or headlamp to help you get around after dark.
Are there any rules about supervision or age requirements for guests?
At least one member of your party must be aged 18 or over. All guests under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult throughout their stay.
Do you accept group bookings?
Groups are very welcome! However, we do not allow parties, hen or stag celebrations, or any events that might disturb other guests. We aim to keep the campsite peaceful and enjoyable for everyone.
When can I reach you by phone?
Our phone line will be covered until 7:00 pm each day. Outside these hours, please leave a message or contact us via email/social media etc. and we’ll respond as soon as possible—unless it’s an emergency, in which case please call.
What is the best way to get into town?
From the campsite entrance, turn right down the hill (the same hill you likely drove up on arrival). At the bottom, just after the small bridge, you’ll see a public footpath on the right. Follow this path around the sports centre and continue down the steps by the skate park to reach the estuary and town.
Need a step-free or low-step route?
Fully step-free: Instead of taking the footpath on the right, stay on the main road, turn right after the car park, and follow the hill down. It’s a little longer and somewhat steep, but completely step-free.
Minimal-step option: If you can manage a couple of steps, you can still take the public footpath on the right. Walk around the sports centre and bypass the skate-park steps and the steps to the car park. From there, you’ll join the same slope as the fully step-free route.
Please note: The campsite is set on a hillside, so the hill on the way back from town is steep.
I’m bringing my van—do I need to bring ramps, or are the pitches flat?
We’re a pitch-wherever-you-like campsite. The top of the field is generally more level and usually has space, but if we’re busy you might need to set up elsewhere. Always bring your levelling ramps so you can park comfortably wherever you find a spot that takes your fancy.
I’m staying in the bell tent—is there anything I should know or bring?
The bell tent is unfurnished, so please bring your usual camping gear—bedding, sleeping mats, pillows, and any cooking or seating equipment you’d like.
Last season (2025) we tried a minimum 2-night stay and an earlier 10 am checkout because we weren’t sure how busy the bell would be or how busy we’d be between bookings.
This season (2026) there’s no minimum stay, and checkout is 12 pm, the same as any other pitch, giving you more flexibility.
To help us keep this system working smoothly for everyone, we simply ask that you leave the bell tent as you found it—clean and given a quick sweep before you go, just as the previous guest did for you. It’s greatly appreciated, especially when things get busy on the farm.

Do I need to bring my fire-pit?
Yes, please bring your own fire-pit, preferably off the ground, if you have one. We do have a few fire-pits available on a first-come, first-served basis, but to avoid disappointment—especially when it’s busy—it’s best to bring your own if you want to be sure to have one.
Always follow local fire safety rules and never leave a fire unattended. If the weather is exceptionally dry, we may temporarily prohibit fires—look out for signs if the ground looks super dry and crispy.
How do we pay for the firewood available at the campsite?
You don’t need to pay—firewood is available (subject to availability) and is free of charge. We want everyone to enjoy their stay, and we think having a campfire is all part of the fun if you want one. Please note, we do not supply fire starters, kindling, or other fire accessories, so be sure to bring your own.

Can I camp in the bottom field?
If there are gates across the bottom field, it’s likely we have livestock present, so please do not enter.
If the gates are open, you’re more than welcome to explore or camp in the bottom field. The field is quite sloped, with flatter spots along the top hedge line or further down at the bottom. We don’t prepare this field for camping (no grass topping), but if you’d prefer being there, that’s totally fine with us.
Please also do not enter the fields on either side of the camping field:
The right-hand side is a neighbour’s private property, so please be respectful.
The left-hand side likely has livestock present.
What are the facilities like?
- Two composting toilets (long drop) with sinks.
- One warm (not hot) shower cubicle – Top tip: a hooded towel or “changing robe” is handy, some say space is a bit tight for a full change.
- Rustic cold-water outdoor shower tucked behind the main one – perfect for hot days or if you’re feeling brave!
- Mains water tap for drinking water.
- Basic washing-up area with eco dish soap in a big jug with a tap and a dish rack.
- Zero-to-landfill mixed-waste disposal, sorted off site.
- Little log store and a few fire-pits – help yourself, subject to availability.
How does the warm shower work?
The shower needs strong water pressure to heat the water. The temperature tap has been removed for health and safety. Just turn it on, give it a moment, and enjoy! 🌿
