Activities

When it comes to the great outdoors, South Devon really does have it all. There could not be a better destination for leaving the car behind and exploring either on two wheels or on foot.

South Hams Cycling

Cycling

For leisure cycling, try out the Malborough to Salcombe cycle path, the Totnes to Dartington walking and cycle path, and the National Cycle Network Route 28 from Totnes to Salcombe.

Walking

Walkers will be attracted to the many paths following the Rivers Dart, Plym, Avon and Erme, and of course, the magnificent South West Coast Path and Two Moors Way. For more information on walking routes in the area, check out the South Devon AONB and Visit Dartmoor.

South Hams Coastal Walking
South Hams Thurlstone Golf Club

Golf

Golfers will find a warm welcome from clubs at Thurlestone, Bigbury and Dartmouth; horse riders can trot out from Dittiscombe or Cheston Farm, but it is the chance to take to the water which will be the main attraction for many.

Water Sports

Head to the coastal towns and beaches and you will find ample opportunities to try out dinghy sailing, kayaking, canoeing, surfing, windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding. Add to that, scuba diving, power boating and sea fishing and you can see why visitors return to the South Hams time and time again to explore and enjoy the many outdoor activities on offer.
